Volunteer Position Title: Mentor (View as pdf)
   Skill Requirements:
  • Highly motivated individual who is reliable, professional and a team player 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and oral) helpful but not necessary 
  • Good communication skills (oral and written) 
  • Be able to work with youth, have patience and be respectful 
  • Able to work with minimal supervision 
  • Punctual (i.e., ARRIVES ON TIME) 
  • Somewhat flexible schedule - anytime between Mondays-Fridays 2-8 PM 
  • Adaptable - able to take on extra responsibilities
   Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist in homework help, reading, math, language arts, etc. 
  • Answer phone and monitor front desk and use of computer lab 
  • Other duties as assigned - at times there may be no work (typing, filing, etc) but you will be needed to answer phones so feel free to bring homework or other work for those occasions.
   Time Commitment:
  • Minimum 4-5 hrs week; must be able to work on Mondays

Volunteer Position Title: Clerical Assistant - General Office Duties (View as pdf)
   Skill Requirements:
  • Highly motivated individual who is reliable, professional and a team player 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and oral) helpful but not necessary 
  • Good communication skills (oral and written) 
  • Proficient in Word Perfect and MS Office (Excel, Word) and internet searches 
  • Able to work with minimal supervision 
  • Reliable transportation 
  • Somewhat flexible schedule and adaptable (i.e., able to take on extra responsibilities)
   Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist in answering phone calls and making phone calls as requested 
  • Light filing and copying duties 
  • Check office mailbox and assist with marketing mailings 
  • Other duties as assigned 
  • At times there may be no clerical work (e.g., typing, filing, etc.) but you will be needed to answer phones so feel free to bring homework or other work for those occasions.
   Time Commitment:
  • Minimum 4-5 hrs week; must be able to work on Wednesdays

Volunteer Position Title: FICS Newsletter Editor (View as pdf)
   Skill Requirements:
  • Must have good written communication skills 
  • Valid Florida Driver's License and clean drug record 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Publisher, MS Office and Word Perfect 
  • Access to a computer (can be provided by the agency) 
  • Able to work with minimal supervision Somewhat flexible schedule
   Primary Responsibilities:
  • Format articles, pictures, digital and other media to produce a bi-monthly newsletter
   Time Commitment:
  • Approximately 15-20 hours every other month; work around school schedule

Volunteer Position Title: Marketing View as pdf)
   Skill Requirements:
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish (written and oral) 
  • Valid Florida Driver's License and clean drug record 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Publisher, MS Office and Word Perfect 
  • Access to a computer (can be provided by the agency) 
  • Able to work with minimal supervision 
  • Willing to travel to nearby city (Wimauma) 
  • Somewhat flexible schedule
   Primary Responsibilities:
  • Attend community meetings
  • Collect articles from the writers (may entail phone calls and driving)
  • Help with overall marketing, maintaining our database, etc.
   Time Commitment:
  • Approximately 15 - 20 hours/month can work around school schedule
