Florida Institute for Community Studies (FICS) Celebrates 20 Years of Prodigy: Then and Now at the Town n Country Library, Tuesday 2/11/2020

Tampa, FL – Florida Institute for Community Studies (FICS) has served as a Prodigy Cultural Arts site since approximately 2006 and over this long partnership we have created amazing links between the arts, education and Comm-UNITY. This event serves as our Annual Prodigy TNC/FICS Showcase! Though Prodigy FICS has been holding free photography classes courtesy of Florida Museum of Photographic Arts (FMoPA) and we have prepared a first of its kind Photography Exhibit for you.

We will begin promptly at 5:30 PM and end at 7 PM. This event is graciously MCed by Franco Silva, a well-known radio host of Latino 54 on WMNF.

Additionally, the press and public are invited to hear a report from Jordon, now a 7th grader at Academy of Math and Science, who is our FICS Prodigy Ambassador who represented us in Tallahassee last week.

We thank our sponsors and donors at Chili’s Restaurant, Starbucks on Hillsborough, WaWa and parents who have made this possible! We are still accepting donations for all of our initiatives. To make it easy, join us on FACEBOOK (click) or https://www.facebook.com/pg/Florida-Institute-for-Community-Studies-Inc-FICS-234855182262/ and donate via the button.

This event is free and open to the public! Put on your dancing shoes and get ready for a great show on TUESDAY 2/11 at the Town n Country Regional Library, 7606 Paula Drive,
Tampa FL 33634.

About FICS: The Florida Institute for Community Studies (FICS) is an 18 year old statewide non-profit (FEIN 59-3712006) dedicated to partnering with communities to help them achieve their goals through research, services, education, training and the arts. We are in the process of rewriting our community plan for Town n Country with a focus on wellness due to research indicating high rates of vulnerability in health and mental health. FICS is working out of the Morgan Woods Recreational Center, where we have begun an evidence-based STE(A)M afterschool program, intergenerational wellness activities, tutoring/mentoring, community chess and now the first Town n Country Community Theater Project, with assistance from the Patel Conservatory of the Straz Center. We are bilingual and multicultural, have an active website at www.ficsinc.org and urge you to like our Facebook page www.facebook.com/florida-institute-for-community-studies and can be reached at 813-801-6844.
