After several students expressed fear and anxiety we talked about the Texas school shooting. It’s true FICS personnel don’t have arms and we don’t have a security guard. Even if we had arms we raked about the importance of preventing shootings by acting when we see a potential problem. Of course It would be great to have guards but it would be very expensive. Meanwhile we finished up all loose ends and celebrated our wins!

The safety of our youth, staff, volunteers, and community is FICS' number one priority. At FICS, all volunteers and employees are extensively screened and vetted prior to involvement in our programs. All staff are fingerprinted and level 2 DCF background checked. Our facilities and events are gun-free zones. FICS maintains a positive relationship with the Hillsborough County Sheriffs Office and report all safety concerns immediately. If you have any questions regarding safety at FICS please contact our Executive Director, Dr. Alayne Unterberger, at
